DO Somontano

The Somontano Denomination of Origin is a wine-growing region located in the province of Huesca, in the autonomous community of Aragón, in northeastern Spain.

It is characterized by its continental climate with Mediterranean influence, with cold winters and hot, dry summers. Somontano wines are made from a wide variety of grapes, both red and white, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and others. They are high quality wines, with a great diversity of styles and characteristics, from young and fresh reds to barrel-aged reds and whites, with good structure, complexity and elegance. Somontano wines usually present notes of ripe fruits, spices, flowers and mineral touches.

They are ideal wines to accompany meats, cheeses, game dishes and fatty fish.
