Tasting notes
On the nose it is very expressive with notes of licorice, cinnamon and black pepper, where the long aging in wood is barely noticeable, thanks to its great complexity and concentration of ripe fruit.
In the mouth it is fresh, with very pleasant polished tannins, with good structure but easy to drink. The finish is long and leaves slight balsamic memories of great quality.

Description
Within its Historic Reserve, Marqués de Riscal has always produced wines made by the winemaker, to which this XR belonged. In the style of Jerez foremen, the winemaker marked some of his barrels with chalk bearing the word XR after discovering certain special characteristics.
This XR was never commercially released, but it was always a benchmark for the master winemaker, a tradition that lasted almost a century, from 1869 to 1964. The XR is a tribute to all the great winemakers who have been part of the prestigious history of Marqués de Riscal. It won a gold medal at the 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards.
