TOMATIN 12 Years MARSALA CASKS 1 of 3 Italian Collection 2010
Description
Tomatin 12 Year Old Marsala Casks 2010 is the first of three editions in the Italian Collection. All three whiskies in the series were distilled on December 6, 2010, and spent ten years in ex-bourbon oak casks. In February 2021, each was transferred to casks that had previously held a different Italian wine (Marsala, Amarone and Barolo), where it matured until bottling in June 2023.
This is the Marsala edition. Marsala is a fortified wine from Sicily, made from Grillo, Catarratto and Inzolia grapes and known for its notes of toffee, almond and orange peel. As it matured in the casks, the whisky added a sweeter, more citrusy profile to Tomatin’s approachable fruitiness, with hints of panettone, white chocolate and hazelnut.
Bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured. A rarity for fans of fortified wine finishes and for anyone looking to complete the distillery’s Italian trilogy.
