D.O. Somontano
The Denominación de Origen Somontano is a wine region located in the province of Huesca, in the autonomous community of Aragón, in north-eastern Spain.
It is characterised by a continental climate with Mediterranean influence, with cold winters and warm, dry summers. Somontano wines are made from a wide range of grapes, both red and white, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and others. They are high-quality wines with a great diversity of styles and characteristics, from young, fresh reds to barrel-aged reds and whites with good structure, complexity and elegance. Somontano wines usually show notes of ripe fruit, spices, flowers and mineral touches.
They are ideal with meat, cheese, game dishes and oily fish.
