Alcohol is a major contributor to flavor, and in combination with proper aging and perfect barrels, a high alcohol content can extract wonderful aromas from the distillate. Marco Savio, the brand owner, in collaboration with experts, has created three special bottlings. For the Malecon Rare Proof Aged 13 Years, the best barrels from the 2009 harvest were selected and blended. This small limited batch, also called a small batch, was adjusted to the perfect alcohol content in several rounds of tasting. For the young and vibrant Malecon Rare Proof Aged 13 Years, an alcohol content of 50.5% has proven to be optimal. This exceptional alcohol content, hence the name "Rare Proof, unfolds an authentic explosion of flavors from the 13-year-old rum. A delight!
