Description
Castro Candaz is an exceptional red wine from Bierzo, made primarily with Mencía grapes from old vines planted on steep, slate slopes. Born from the collaboration between two of the great names in Spanish wine—Raúl Pérez and Rodrigo Méndez—this wine reflects a more subtle, fresh, and elegant interpretation of Mencía, far removed from excessive oak and over-extraction.
Aged in wooden and stainless steel tanks, Castro Candaz displays a very delicate nose, with notes of fresh red fruit, aromatic herbs, and an earthy background reminiscent of the Bierzo landscape. On the palate, it is light, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and great precision. A wine that combines the Atlantic identity of Bierzo with a contemporary vision of the terroir.
