Description

Aalto Blanco de Parcela 2024 is one of the most unique and exclusive white wines from the Ribera del Duero DO, produced by Bodegas Aalto in Quintanilla de Arriba (Valladolid) — the project created in 1999 by the legendary winemaker Mariano García (formerly of Vega Sicilia) together with the Javier Zaccagnini winery group. A white wine born to show that Ribera del Duero also has a lot to say in the world of premium white wines.

Made mainly with Verdejo grapes, with the addition of Godello and Albillo Mayor in smaller percentages, exclusively from the unique Fuente de las Hontanillas plot, located in Quintanilla de Arriba (Valladolid) at an altitude of more than 850 meters. An extremely high-altitude vineyard for the appellation, with calcareous soils and a wide temperature range that favors aromatic freshness and tension on the palate.

The 2024 vintage was marked by a winter with pleasant temperatures and late frosts at the end of January, an initially warm spring followed by rain and cool temperatures in April and May, and a very dry and hot summer from July — with an intense heatwave in August with usual temperatures around 35°C and highs close to 40°C. Vineyard management was key to preserving the wine's characteristic acidity and freshness.

The winemaking includes oak aging to add complexity and texture without losing the varietal expression of the Verdejo. Bright yellow in color. On the nose, delicate and elegant: perfectly integrated floral and varied fruit aromas with subtle spicy notes from the wood. On the palate, it is fresh, with very good balance of volume and persistence. Previous scores: 93 pts Parker, 94 pts Peñín, 94 pts Jeb Dunnuck (2022).

Serving temperature: 10-12°C. Ideal for baked fish, seafood, mushrooms, white rice dishes, pasta with creamy sauces, and semi-cured cheeses.
