Description
The harvest began on August 13th and ended on September 27th, with some interruptions due to storms and the waiting period for certain varieties to ripen. 2018 will be remembered as the rainiest year on record, which led to a 10-day delay in the harvest compared to the previous year. Small outbreaks of downy mildew were detected, but because the grapes were harvested by hand, they were pre-selected in the vineyard, affecting only the yield and not the quality.
The wines from the climatically complex harvest were characterized by a surprising balance between acidity and alcohol content, an essential aspect for long-aged sparkling wines like ours.
