I.G. Paraje Altamira
Paraje Altamira is an Indicación Geográfica in the department of San Carlos, in the Valle de Uco (Mendoza, Argentina). It is especially known for its Malbec, from high-altitude vineyards on alluvial, stony and calcareous soils.
Generally speaking, producers in the area describe their wines as fresh, juicy, with good acidity, defined structure and fine texture, with the character of the calcareous soils as one of their distinguishing features. There is, however, no single mandatory profile: the variety, plot, aspect, harvest date and winemaking all have a notable influence on each wine.
