DO Bierzo

El Bierzo is a wine region located in the province of León, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, in northwest Spain. Bierzo wines are known for being mostly red wines made from the Mencía grape, although white and rosé wines are also produced.

Bierzo wines usually have a fresh and fruity style, with notes of red and black fruits, spices and mineral notes. They are medium-bodied wines, with soft tannins and balanced acidity. The Bierzo region has experienced a resurgence in recent years, gaining recognition for the quality and originality of its wines, and has several prominent wineries and producers on the Spanish wine scene.
